Tanne shines with unrestricted funding for artists

The Tanne Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2012 awards, given in furtherance of the foundation’s mission to underscore the importance of supporting individual artists with unrestricted funding.

Over fourteen years, the foundation has recognized sixty-eight artists and nine organizations for their outstanding achievements in a variety of fields in the visual and performing arts, including performance art, painting, poetry, music, acting, and dance.

The 2012 awards, totaling $39,000, honor six artists in recognition of their artistic achievements as well as one artist-run organization which has presented exceptional work for over 35 years.  The 2012 recipients are: Continue Reading »

Zumix at the White House


Located in a renovated firehouse in a primarily low-income East Boston Latino neighborhood, Zumix engages youth in music and the arts. First Lady Michelle Obama recently presented the 2011 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award to Zumix youth and staff at the White House. Zumix is one of only 12 programs chosen from a national pool of more than 471 nominees and 50 finalists for the country’s highest honor for youth arts programs.

NLT Foundation Announces 2011 Grants

The NTL Foundation announced its annual grants for the arts and environment.

This year’s grants portfolio awarded grants to both the best and least known organizations in Boston, Cincinnati, and Mid-Coast Maine.

A major theme of this year’s grants was education and outreach.
