Alfonso joined GMA in 2018 after 20 years of public accounting experience with a specialization in providing assurance and taxation services to nonprofits, including private and operating foundations. As a CPA and certified fraud examiner, Alfonso has helped clients identify opportunities to strengthen their internal controls. Prior to beginning his career in public accounting, he worked as a social worker in the health care setting.
Alfonso brings to GMA a passion for helping foundations and grant-making organizations utilize their financial information to provide maximum impact, determine metrics to evaluate their financial performance, and to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. He frequently conducts educational programs for those working with nonprofits and foundations to understand and utilize their financial statements and tax returns.
Alfonso obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston College and a Master of Social Work from Boston University. In addition, he received his formal training in accounting at Suffolk University and holds a graduate certificate in executive coaching from William James College.
